It All Started When...

So thinking back... when did all this crazyness start... hmmm...  I think it started way back in the fall of 2004 when I picked up a used 1999 Porsche Boxster.  It was a very nice and FUN car.  I started talking with a friend of mine who was a bit of a Porsche enthusiast.  He started explaining all the cool parts I could put on my Boxster.  Sounded very cool! So this was where I actually THOUGHT about MODDING a car for the first time!  However, I then started pricing some of the parts! WOW! Talk about sticker shock!  And then I started looking at the price for simple things like a muffler.  Oh my gosh! It was pretty crazy!  I started wondering what I had got myself into... what if I had to really start replacing things on the car?  Me and my impulse buys!

Fast forwad a bit to early spring of 2005.  Ford had completely redesigned  the Mustang for 2005.  It was on a new platform and Ford had gone with a much more retro look. Now I have wanted a yellow Mustang for quite some time. Now I had actually owned an 2002 Mustang but it was Black.  In 2002 Mustangs came in Zinc Yellow which was very pale and to me very blah!  So here it was in 2005 and Ford had a much brighter yellow... SCREAMING YELLOW!  The local dealer had a 2005 V6 Screaming Yellow Mustang out front and I stopped in for a closer look.  And in my typical fashion I made my usual impulse buy!

So the Boxster was gone and the 2005 Mustang inhabitted our driveway. At this point however I went from thinking about modding a car to actually modding one!  The Mustang quickly became know at our house as The Mistress.  She went through a few different looks over the 2 1/2 years I owned her.  But at the end of the summer of 2007 I decided was time for the Mistress to find a new home and I traded her in for a Hummer H3.

Now when I first started working on my V6 Mustang, I started bugging some of the local shops.  I started calling them on a very regular basis. Now these shops deal mostly, if not only, with V8s.  So I would call and they would ask me who I was.. I was John with the V6 Mustang...  well, after a while the shops just turned it into V6 John for short!  And the nickname stuck and V6 John was born!  I then started this website www.v6john.com to document The Mistress.

So for the last 2 years I had been keeping www.v6john.com up as a reference for other Mustang owners... but last June that all changed!  As luck would have it another pretty girl powered by a V6 would enter my life!  Yep, my 2010 2LT RS Camaro, sporting a 3.6L V6 motor! So it was time to dust off the old website and give it a big face lift!  V6 John is back on the air!
