The Engine Cover Makeover!

So Scott from MRT has been showing me all sorts of very cool things they've been doing since they since they started "dipping" things in their new hydrographics tank!  Hydrographics or water transfer printing is a method where by all different types of designs and patterns can be printed on to metal, plastic, glass, hard woods, and various other materials, by basically floating the ink on top of a tank of water.  That's the very simplistic view of it.  To me it reminds me of the OLD FASHIONED way of making Easter Eggs where the dye floated on top of the water and you swirled and dipped the eggs.

Headers for the V6 Camaro

Adding JBA Shorty Headers

So with the addition of the MRT Ver. 2.0 Axle Back exhaust system, Ivy had developed a really nice exhaust note and I was very happy with it.  Then I came across a discussion that suggested that perhaps the stock exhaust manifolds on the V6 Camaro were perhaps not the most optimal.  I then found that JBA had developed a set of shorty headers for the V6 Camaro.  The important thing about these shorty headers to me was they retained the stock catalytic converters.  As it turns out MRT carries JBA products so I got on the phone with Kim from MRT and she got the ball rolling!

MRT Exhaust - Version 2.0

When I bought the 2010 V6 Camaro, one of the first things I did was replace the stock mufflers with an axle back system from MRT.  The new MRT axle back system transformed the quiet V6 into a roaring power plant!  For details on the system, including videos, you can click here. Well after a few months, Scott from MRT decided to come up with another axle back setup, one with a more refined sound, one that wasn't quite as aggressive as the current axle back system but still had that sports performance sound.  So with Scott knowing that I'm always open to trying new things out, he gave me a call to see if I wanted to try out this new axle back system... and of course I jumped at the chance!  And with that I was off to MRT!

Turning Down The HEAT!

Summer winds down, bringing cool nights to Michigan.  That means cool air in the mornings!  The last few weeks I've notice the the Camaro is incredibly peppy in the morning.  Cool air means increased performance, but the Camaro seems more responsive to cool air than previous cars I've owned.  So I decided to do a  little digging and a little testing!

And her name is...

What's in a Name?

So with a new car comes a new name.   Now naming my 2005 V6 Mustang was pretty easy.  My wife, Tammy, told me one day, "You spend more time and money with that car than me! You might as well have a mistress!"  And with that the Mistress was born!  With the new 2010 V6 Camaro.... well...  I knew she needed a name but nothing really stood out. Until...

0 to 60

0 To 60 As Advertised?

Scouring the magazines and the review sites, it seems that the most common rating for the 0 to 60 MPH time for the 2010 V6 Camaro is 6.0 seconds.  I have found a couple of places were it is listed at 6.1 seconds. Since I have an MSD Dashhawk, which has a number of performance tests including a 0 to 60 MPH test, I figured I would try out my new Camaro to see if it lived up to the reviews.
